Beach Chair

This project comes from all the way back in 2005 when I was still a student at Art Center. James Meraz was the instructor. He had this awesome idea to determine the ergonomics by going to the beach and shaping the chair in the sand. After which we built a template to drive the design of chairs. I took the direction of surfer culture by making the seating areas out of fiberglass and surfboard foam. It made the chair incredibly durable to impact and worked well for seating. The legs and spine were cast out of aluminum and polished. This was then coated to prevent rust and corrosion. Intended for use in the sand or on the deck of your posh beachhouse.

Irvine

I neither hate it nor love it. Its just there and I would avoid it if I could

Quick Concept Sketching

This concept sketch (one of many for this product) was done in 20 minutes after a round of sketching. Quick rendering in photoshop off of a scanned line drawing. Speed is the key

Image Boards

This is a quick and handy technique to communicate the mood and feel of a product before the first line is drawn. It is mostly meant to be an inspirational communication tool for the designer and client. This will help illustrate the vision of the product and create common ground. Its fun to look at too.
