Beach Chair

This project comes from all the way back in 2005 when I was still a student at Art Center. James Meraz was the instructor. He had this awesome idea to determine the ergonomics by going to the beach and shaping the chair in the sand. After which we built a template to drive the design of chairs. I took the direction of surfer culture by making the seating areas out of fiberglass and surfboard foam. It made the chair incredibly durable to impact and worked well for seating. The legs and spine were cast out of aluminum and polished. This was then coated to prevent rust and corrosion. Intended for use in the sand or on the deck of your posh beachhouse.

Irvine

I neither hate it nor love it. Its just there and I would avoid it if I could

Quick Concept Sketching

This concept sketch (one of many for this product) was done in 20 minutes after a round of sketching. Quick rendering in photoshop off of a scanned line drawing. Speed is the key

Image Boards

This is a quick and handy technique to communicate the mood and feel of a product before the first line is drawn. It is mostly meant to be an inspirational communication tool for the designer and client. This will help illustrate the vision of the product and create common ground. Its fun to look at too.

Classic Disney Posters

I love this style of art. Iconic, simple and fun. The ideal combination for creating or controlling the look and feel of a space. All the credit goes to those wonderful artists at Disney.

Zaha Hadid Amazing Architect

I love this woman's work. Unconventional and downright awesome.

When fashion intersects with nerdom

I found this image a while back and I think it is awesome that someone did this. Just goes to show you, two loves do make a right...

Sketch Circa 2005

This was a fun little nespresso coffee maker concept I had back in school. It was extremely well received at the time and almost got made. I still love this thing even as a concept. The challenge was to make the nespresso capsule appear enticing. So why not make it like candy.

What goes into a Spec Sheet

If you were ever curious about what the factory sees before a product gets launched here is a quick sampling. This spec sheet, one of many for this product, explains the layout of silkscreens and the colors to match. Clear cut communication is definitely the key to getting your product made the right way. A lot of hours and painstaking decisions go into this one document. You still have to keep a watchful eye on those factory guys because sometimes things are lost in translation...literally.

Memorex MyVideo HD is HERE!!!

Memorex MyVideo HD pocket cam is finally on the market. I had a chance to get my hands on this product which I designed a year ago. Turned out super nice, buy it on Amazon if you want sweetness in the palm of your hands.
